Terms of Use

Effective July 25, 2026 · last updated July 25, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the BassHawk application, website, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Not for navigation — safety first

The Service is for recreational fishing reference only and must never be used for navigation. Depth contours, structure layers, hazards, water levels, and clarity estimates are derived from surveys of varying age and from modeled data; actual conditions differ and change. Always use official navigation charts, follow posted regulations, wear flotation, and exercise your own judgment on the water. You are solely responsible for your safety.

2. Our data and content

The Service’s maps, depth layers, detected-structure layers, curated fishing locations, synthesized fishing intelligence, forecasts, scores, and their selection, arrangement, and presentation (collectively the “BassHawk Data”) are original compilations and derivative works owned by BassHawk, protected by copyright and other laws — including where underlying sources are public records. Public-source layers are credited in-app (e.g., “Bathymetry: Minnesota DNR”).

3. What you may not do

Except as expressly allowed in writing, you may not:

The BassHawk Data contains identification measures sufficient to establish copying in derivative datasets.

4. Your content and privacy

You keep ownership of content you add (catches, trip reports, photos, custom spots, plans). You grant BassHawk a license to store, process, and display that content to operate the Service for you.

Your log is not public. It is not shown to other users, and we do not sell your personal data or share it with advertisers.

Operator access. BassHawk’s operator can view account activity and logged content (including catches, trip reports, spots and plans) for support, troubleshooting, and product testing. We keep such access to what those purposes require. If that changes materially, we will update this page.

5. AI-generated content

Guide reports, chat answers, and plans include AI-generated content grounded on our data. It can be wrong. It is advice for entertainment and planning, not a guarantee of conditions, safety, or fishing results.

6. Accounts and fair use

You must provide accurate account information and be at least 13 years old. We may apply rate limits and daily quotas, and may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms — including scraping or abuse — with or without notice.

7. Third-party data and services

The Service incorporates data from government and third-party sources (e.g., NOAA, USGS, state agencies, OpenStreetMap contributors, satellite imagery providers) under their respective terms, and is not endorsed by them. Attribution notices in the Service are part of these Terms.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BASSHAWK WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS, INJURY, OR DAMAGE ARISING FROM USE OF THE SERVICE OR RELIANCE ON ITS DATA, INCLUDING ON-WATER ACTIVITIES. WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE EXCLUDED, IT IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE PRIOR 12 MONTHS.

9. Changes

We may update the Service and these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after changes is acceptance.
