A cold front is the sharpest, most predictable swing in bass fishing. The day before one arrives is frequently the best day of the week. The two days after are frequently the worst. Same lake, same fish, 48 hours apart.
BassHawk flags one when pressure drops more than 0.1 inHg over 6 hours and air temperature falls more than 5°F against its recent trend. Both have to happen — pressure alone is weather, pressure plus a temperature break is a front.

Field studies put post-frontal catch-rate drops at 50 to 70%. The fish pull tight to cover, stop chasing, and hold in a posture where a bait has to almost touch them. Clear skies and flat light make it worse, because the same conditions that push pressure up also strip the cloud cover that was keeping fish shallow.
The mistake is to keep fishing the pattern that worked the day before. It was a searching pattern, and there is nothing left to search — the fish are in the thickest cover on the flat, not roaming it.
Slow down past the point of boredom and put the bait inside cover rather than near it. Flipping and pitching into the heaviest wood or grass you can find beats any moving bait. Downsize — a finesse profile gets bit when a full-size one does not.
And take the front as information about the week, not just the day. If a front lands Thursday, Wednesday is the day to take off work, not Saturday. Knowing that on Monday is worth more than any bait in the boat.
