Water temperature is the master factor. It is not one input among many — it sets the ceiling every other condition has to fit under. A bass is cold-blooded, so water temperature is body temperature, and body temperature is metabolic rate: how fast the fish digests, how much it needs to eat, and how far it will move to eat it.
Metabolic rate in fish roughly doubles for every 10°C rise, up to the point where it stops paying — the Q10 relationship. For largemouth that puts peak feeding in a narrow band and drops off hard on both sides. These are the exact values BassHawk scores against:

Read the shape, not the single number. From 65 to 75°F a largemouth is at or near full feeding capacity — that is the window where a bad day is your fault. By 85°F the same fish is at 30% and by 90°F it is at 10%: still catchable, but only in the hours and depths where it is comfortable.
Below 50°F a largemouth's digestion nearly stops. It does not need to eat daily, so it will not chase. This is not a fish that has left — it is a fish that has stopped paying the cost of moving. Everything has to come to it.
Fish the deepest structure that still has something to hold on, and slow down further than feels reasonable. A shaky head or drop shot barely moving on the bottom outfishes anything with a blade on it. Winter is also the one season when midday beats dawn, because midday is the warmest water of the day.
Above 85°F you are fishing a stress zone. Warm water holds less dissolved oxygen exactly when the fish needs more of it, so the bass goes where the two problems are smallest: deep, shaded, or near moving water. The bite compresses into first and last light and the rest of the day is a grind.
This is the situation where a depth map stops being a nice-to-have. In August the difference between 18 and 24 feet on a channel swing is the difference between fish and no fish, and you cannot see that from the surface.
Anyone can tell you a lake is 58°F. The number that changes your day is that it came up four degrees this week, because that is the difference between pre-spawn staging and fish moving onto beds. A reservoir's surface temperature lags air temperature by roughly two weeks, so a warm spell you felt a fortnight ago is what the fish are reacting to now.
