The fishery
Lake Conroe is a 21,000-acre reservoir on the West Fork of the San Jacinto River in Montgomery and Walker Counties, about 40 miles north of Houston. Impounded in 1973, the lake is operated by the San Jacinto River Authority and the City of Houston as a municipal water supply. The upper half (north of FM 1375) borders Sam Houston National Forest and holds the lake
