The fishery

Falcon International Reservoir, Zapata and Starr Counties Texas — 83,654 acres on the Rio Grande at the Mexico border. Known for producing incredible numbers of largemouth and Florida-strain bass, often requiring 5–6 lb average per fish to win tournaments. Key features include the Veleno Creek arm, Tiger Strip / El Tigre area, Salado arm with submerged Guerrero Viejo ruins, and deep water near the dam at Salineño. South Texas subtropical climate means bass spawn earlier and feed year-round.
